A group of us, facilitators, came together to talk and share about the challenges we face as psychosocial support facilitators. We were lamenting about the lack of support available for psychosocial support facilitators. We were wondering how we can help support one another as fellow facilitators when one of us shared about the Marigold Effect. From there, the idea of a facilitators' support system came about. A safe space for like-minded facilitators to come together to provide and receive support, to learn, grow and, be inspired from one another.
Our facilitators' support system was developed to support facilitators at various levels. It is a three-tiered support system aimed at supporting facilitators at the individual, peer and community levels.
"If you plant a marigold beside most garden vegetable, that vegetable will grow big and strong and healthy, protected and encouraged by its marigold."
"Marigolds exist in our schools as well - encouraging, supporting and nurturing growing teachers on their way to maturity. If you find at least one marigold in your school and stay close to them, you will grow. Find more than one and you will positively thrive."
Facilitators may seek the support of a Psychosocial Support Consultant or Psychosocial Support Resource Person through one-on-one consultations where they may receive personalised emotional support, mentorship, guidance, and advice.
Consultations may be done on a regular or ad-hoc basis depending on the facilitator's needs and the consultant's/resource person's availability. Consultations are mainly conducted via zoom.
Facilitators gather to share their experiences of conducting psychosocial support courses and programmes. In this safe space, facilitators may share the challenges they faced, brainstorm ideas, and encourage one another with mutual respect while adopting a non-judgemental stance.
Sessions are mainly conducted via zoom on a monthly basis. With its members' agreement, ad-hoc sessions may be conducted.
A platform for facilitators to connect and exchange resources and best practices.
