FOUNDER & PRINCIPAL PSYCHOSOCIAL SUPPORT CONSULTANT
Trained as a social worker, counsellor, educator and nurse, Muhamad Haikel is the Founder and Principal Psychosocial Support Consultant of Psychosocial Support Community. Like any hardcore humanitarian professional, he has served both local and international communities for disaster relief and peace-time missions with organisations such as Singapore Red Cross and Mercy Relief. He now trains others with the skills and knowledge of psychosocial support. Passionate about mental health and psychosocial support, he also curates, advocates and develops programmes and workshops focusing on mental health and psychosocial support. He adopts person-centred, positive psychology, and trauma-informed approaches in consultancy, counselling, casework, training and learning. His interests are in suicidology, disaster mental health, and crisis management. He aspires to empower individuals and communities in their journeys to achieve optimal mental wellness.
On any ordinary day, Haikel looks like a typical Malay pakcik (uncle) who loves cats and enjoys gaming, travelling, reading, learning, cooking and volunteering in his free time. You can probably catch him sipping his teh tarik (milk tea) or bubble tea somewhere while gaming or reading.
